Rooted in the landscape of the Fen Edge, the Big Skies Cello Project is a small cello ensemble for adult learners in Cambridge and Huntingdon.
The group is primarily for my own students, offering a natural progression from individual lessons to the enjoyment of ensemble playing. From time to time, I also invite guest players whose experience, playing level and musical aims are a good fit for the group.
Sessions are relaxed, structured and designed to help players feel secure while developing their musicianship. There are no auditions and no expectation of perfection - just a willingness to learn, listen and enjoy making music together.
Our repertoire is specially arranged for multiple playing levels, allowing each player to contribute confidently while developing skills such as playing in time and creating a blended sound. Music ranges from film scores and musical theatre to pop classics and classical works, providing enjoyable repertoire for players roughly Grades 1-6.
