Big Skies Cello Project

For adult players looking for a supportive way into ensemble music

✨ Coming soon!

Last updated: June 2026

Rooted in the landscape of the Fen Edge, the Big Skies Cello Project is a small ensemble for adult cellists in Cambridge and Huntingdon. It is designed especially for those who came to the instrument later in life or are returning after a break.

For players roughly Grades 1–6, it’s a chance to enjoy the simple pleasure of playing together. There are no auditions and no expectation of perfection - just a willingness to join in and have a go.

Our first piece will be He’s a Pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean, arranged specially for the group with four different parts to support a range of playing levels. Whether you’re still building confidence or looking for a new musical challenge, there will be a part you can settle into comfortably.

Sessions are friendly and carefully structured to help you feel secure while developing your playing. We’ll explore a range of accessible repertoire while building skills such as playing in time and creating a warm, blended sound. We'll move beyond strictly classical repertoire to explore the rich, expressive world of film, pop and musical theatre.

To begin with, sessions will run on an ad hoc basis during school holidays. Pricing will be confirmed shortly.

If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, you’re very welcome to get in touch and ask.

More details on rehearsal dates and location (likely Swavesey or Northstowe) will be announced soon.

Register your interest

There’s no commitment at this stage - just a chance to express interest and hear more as plans take shape.

When you contact me, it’s helpful to include how long you've been playing, your approximate level and your general availability.
